FAQs

  • Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy which can be received by anyone at any age of stage of life. It is ideal to support physical and emotional issues by increasing relaxation, reducing tension and improving sleep. Reflexology can improve overall health and wellbeing in a safe and natural way. Many people take the opportunity to relax, de-stress and take time out for themselves. Having regular reflexology treatments is ideal as preventative maintenance for your body, mind & soul.

*Please note: reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

  • Reflexology can help with a wide range of illnesses and ailments, such as hormone imbalances, sleep disorders, back pain, and digestive problems. Different pressure points are used on the feet to promote the movement of built-up energy and help to restore the body through the removal of toxins. My clients include people receiving cancer treatment who find reflexology can ease some of the side effects they are experiencing. Treatments are seen as an alternative way for people to find relief from their ailments while also finding some time to relax. I also treat both men and women who are trying to start a family as reflexology can complement other fertility treatments.

  • It is an excellent way, if not the best way to de-stress, that is one of the main reasons people come to see me. Stress affects all of us either because of work, home-life or illness. As a complementary therapy reflexology helps to rebalance the whole person, not just the prevailing symptoms of stress. It encourages the body to return to a state balance to allow self-healing can take place. I often find clients drift off during treatments because they can relax in the calming surroundings of my treatment room.

  • Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that does not hurt. The only thing people may feel is some tingling or pressure during the treatment. This is a sign of an imbalance in the body and would be worked on accordingly. It is safe for everyone, no matter their age, as long as caution is taken with elderly clients, those who are sick, and pregnant women. Side effects include headaches if clients don’t drink enough water after a treatment, much like when you get a massage. Some clients have also reported that they have a release of emotions after their treatment. Mostly I find people leave feeling relaxed and a bit lighter than when they walked through the door.

  • Yes, there is a form of reflexology to suit most people as not everyone enjoys their feet being touched. Treatments can be conducted on the feet, hands, face, head, and ears. Hand and arm treatments are also benefical for lymphatic drainage for those suffering with lymphedema or pregnant women experiencing a build-up in fluid.

  • No, we are not medical professionals. Reflexologists should never diagnose medical conditions or claim that they can cure an ailment or illness. The treatment is holistic, treating the whole person’s body, mind, emotions and spirit. If a person has been diagnosed with a condition, reflexology can ease some of the symptoms, taking into account each individual person’s circumstances. This is why a health and well-being consultation is held when a new client arrives for their first appointment.

  • Does it tickle? That has to be the question I am asked most. Reflexology is not designed to tickle as the therapist uses different pressures and techniques to activate energy in the corresponding parts of the body. I’m also asked by some clients if it is suitable for men, I tend to find men love it just as much (if not more) than women!

  • Absolutely. I specialise in maternity and fertility and have taken advanced courses to facilitate this. Reflexology is safe in all stages of pregnancy. Usually, it is up to the client if they wish to wait until after the first trimester however, regular clients, and previous fertility clients, continue their treatments once they are pregnant. Sessions are shorter, lighter and as the pregnancy progresses so too does the length of treatments and the pressure used. It can give expectant mothers relief from morning sickness, pelvic and lower back pain.

  • Reflexology has definitely become more popular as people are more aware of the benefits it can bring. I also think people are more aware of the need to take time out for themselves after Covid-19. The first lockdown in March 2020 was the first time many of us we took time to breathe and slow down. Clients come to me regularly to switch off for an hour.
